Elections Test Question

In today's political environment it takes hard work, determination, and help from your connections to get elected. Now a days, there's one question that stands out for all candidates to have a decent chance of winning an election, "Who do you know?" A candidate's connections are as important as their campaign in order to win. If they don't have legitimate connections in politics, people will never even hear of that candidate. In order to win an election, a candidate must connect with the people and appeal to them in some sort of way. If they do that then they can recieve "hard money" which is money that is directly given to a candidate to support their campaign. Another type of support for a candidate would be "soft money", which is money that is not given directly to a candidate but still helps that candidate out. Businesses and corporations that support a candidate can give them "soft money" by having advertisement and things of that sort but not actually handing the candidates money. Another way that candidates recieve money is through "Political Action Committees" which issue advocate groups and represent a candidate throughout their campaign. In primary elections Democrats and Republicans from the "Political Parties" run against each other to see who will move on to run against the winner from the general election. Then it's kind of like the championship of a tournament where two politicians face of and see who can reach more people to vote for them. Which leads to "voter turnout" which is the number of people who actually decided to support a certain candidate and voted. Although "media bias" exists on all news broadcasting networks, people must still decide for themselves on who they want to vote for. They cannot believe everything a news station says becuase a news network will say whatever they want as long as it recieves ratings. I do believe a candidate must have enough connections not only in politics, but also in media aswell. If the media just slams a candidate, chances are that the candidate won't do so well in the election. If the candidate has the right connections with the media to inform people their message, and connections in politics to back them up on their beliefs, if their campaign is legitimate they should always have a good chance of winning an election. Although sometimes a low turnout can be good for America, i believe it would be much better if there was a high voter turnout. If it's a low turnout then that means that not that many people went out to vote. Although if everyone was forced to go and vote, there would be alot of people who didn't know what they were talking about and would make a bad decision. That's why sometimes a low turnout can be good for the fact that if only the people that were really following an election went out an voted, the right decision would be made.
